SkyTu.be was founded in November of 2008 as the pet project of San Diego local Chase Gassert. The purpose of the website is to provide a high-quality, modern method of sharing videos among the skydiving community. Think YouTube, but dedicated to the skydiving community, and without all the clutter and overbearing ads.
With the slightly unconventional spelling of the domain name, its a name thats sure to stick around. Without the usual .com or .net, SkyTu.be is super easy to remember but even easier to use. The site features unlimited account uploads so members can share as many videos as they want. The only restriction is that right now individual file sizes are limited to 500MB at a time, unless a person contacts the staff and gets the cap temporarily removed.
The SkyTu.be website is actively developed, and practically anything the skydiving community wants to see happen.. the dedicated team behind it has the resources and desire to do so! Chase is a full-time business owner who runs a web hosting and design company, whose main goal is providing professional hosting services and actively developing successful web presences to businesses and organizations world-wide. The ChaseHosting.com network where SkyTu.be is hosted is privately owned, maintained by a full-time staff of experienced web hosting experts, and boasts top of the line equipment throughout the facility. The site will be actively maintained and have the necessary resources to scale to demand for decades to come. Have no fear of month-long downtimes or slow load times!
For those of you who are computer savvy, SkyTu.be now also offers a private torrent tracker for easily sharing large sky diving videos and collections. Check it out at http://skytu.be/torrents/
The torrent section is brand new so there isnt too much activity on it yet, but the team says to expect several hundred new torrent files to be added over the next few weeks. Theyve expressed to us that they really need people to start uploading torrents and seeding to get the new torrent section going, so if anyone has any collections of skydiving vids... make some torrents, upload them to the site, and start sharing!
